Workshop 1:
Positive psychology and life value in Children’s literature

In this training workshop, Dr. Henry Ho introduced the theoretical basis of positive psychology and life education. Moreover, the relationship between the psychological theories and children’s literature were demonstrated, so that our participants gained further understanding about integrating positive psychology into digital stories.
Workshop 2:
Language arts in telling the stories
17 April 2021
In this workshop, Ms. Clarine Chan introduced the basic language arts in narrating stories, such as intonation, articulation control and narrative rhythm, and practical tricks and skills of attracting audience’s attention and raising their interests, including eye contact and body movements. In addition, participants are guided to choose the right picture book embedded with good positive life values and to use scaffolding skills in telling the stories.
Workshop 3:
Digital storytelling tools
24 April 2021
In this workshop, Dr. Ju Lee introduced different software for video shooting, editing and audio recording. Our participants were provided with hands-on practice experience of video creation under the supervision.
Workshop 4:
Writing children’s literature and pedagogical skills
8 May 2021
In this workshop, Ms. Jessica Lee provided participants with the knowledge in writing/rewriting a story embedded with positive meaning and pedagogical skills in writing and telling the stories such as how to adapt the language to suit the needs of age 7-9 kids. In addition to this, participants are guided to design assessment task at the end of the story.
Workshop 5:
Lesson plan writing

In this workshop, Dr. Ruth Wong provided comprehensive instruction on how to plan an effective ESL lesson, with the demonstration about using different teaching materials in each stage of a lesson.
